Maui and the sun

Once upon a time there were 5 boys. It was always dark because the sun was always down. Maui couldn’t see, so he couldn’t eat.

The sun raced across the sky. The nights were long and the days were short.

Maui called to his brothers. “Let’s find the sun and catch him. We can make him go slowly.”

Maui and his brothers made ropes out of flax.

It took a long time for the brothers to find the sun. He was hiding in a hole. At first the brothers and Maui were hiding. As the sun came up they threw the rope around the sun and pulled.maui brothers pulled and pulled while Maui beat the sun. I'm nearly dead screamed the sun. The boys let the sun go. Now the sun moves slowly.
